| About the Author
Karl Erickson, who resides in Salem, Oregon with his wife and children, considers himself primarily a fiction author. Tristan's Travels was published by Rafka Press late last year. Kimberly Erickson is its wonderful illustrator. (Toupee Mice is currently scheduled for publication from Rafka Press early next year, or so) In addition to writing fiction, his articles have appeared in America, The National Catholic Weekly, Catholic Answers' This Rock, Church Music Association of America’s Musica Sacra, Catholicmom.com, Episcopal Church News, Seattle Pacific University's Response, TiberRiver Catholic Book Reviews, as well as a guest opinion writer for both the Portland Tribune and Statesman Journal. When not writing, his wife, Kimberly Erickson, and he enjoy opportunities to speak and share their family’s spiritual journey. Karl is also one of the founding members of the Catholic Writers' Guild, a new association of Catholic writers and artists engaged in trying to make a difference for God and bring creative renewal to Catholic literature.
Kimberly Erickson is an artist and the illustrator of his children’s books. Kimberly is the daughter of artist John Carroll Collier, the celebrated sculptor of the Catholic Memorial at Ground Zero in New York City. Her grandfather, Carroll Collier, is also a successful landscape artist. Over the last few years in particular, Kimberly has experimented with a wide variety of art mediums--from "water gilding" a large frame for Saint Peter's Church in Charlotte, North Carolina to painting gouache illustrations for Karl's children's books. It should be no surprise, then, that the intersection of faith and the arts is a particular passion for both Karl and Kimberly.
In Karl’s "spare time," he works as a number cruncher for the State of Oregon. He has recently started work on a mystery novel, which is set primarily between Seattle and Friday Harbor. The book should be unveiled within a couple years, or so. Earlier this year, Karl begun a blog entitled The Singing in the Wood. In addition to blog essays on a variety of timely themes and topics, he enjoys sharing interviews of interesting and inspiring personalities--from Sean Astin to Raymond Arroyo and (the "Catholic Guy") Lino Rulli.
